My New Blog

It’s Sunday…

The angel spoke to the women: “There is nothing to fear here. I know you’re looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed.

Exhibition Time…

As part of Fuel 09 I, along with a few other photographers . I have’t decided what to exhibit, I will be showing about 5 photographs, and I need your help. I need your suggestions, so please check out my flickr, and come back here and post the link to the photo in the comments section of this post, or email me with your suggestions. There is no specific theme, what would you like to see printed and mounted on display?

… two thousand and eight …

So its new years eve, again… this time last year I was in Harrisons flat in Edinburgh, looking forward to a few days celebrating Hogmanay. This year I am just having a few friends round, maybe some poker, some food, slightly more relaxed than 100,000 people on Princes street.

I sat down the other night and came up with my highlights of the past year, funny enough most of them relate to my trip in the summer, but I will share them anyway, in no particular order

  • Hogmanay in Edinburgh
  • Road Trip to Cork with my housemates, to see the Delorentos
  • My Round the World Trip ( lots below)
  • Getting Engaged to Lorraine in Adelaide ( This is my No. 1 Highlight of the year)
  • Climbing to the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge
  • Learning to surf in Surfers Paradise
  • Driving the whole way up the east coast of Australia
  • Snorkeling and Scuba Diving on the Great Barrier Reef
  • Doing my first Bungy Jump!!
  • Going to Ramsey Street, seeing Neighbours being filmed, meeting Susan
  • Relaxing in the South Pacific, in the middle of nowhere
  • The Look on Lorraine’s face when I got home after 6 and half weeks of not seeing her, and giving her a Tiffany’s engagement ring
  • Apple store opening in Belfast
  • Seeing Snow Patrol play the Empire Music Hall in Belfast
  • Housewarming/Fancy Dress Party
  • Photography, in general my photography has really progressed this year and I am looking forward 2009

Some (lots of) photos from 2008( In no order)…

So I’m Home…

But I’ve been so busy that this is the first I’ve been able to blog… I had such an amazing time, seeing a few different countries, and meeting loads of people. I reckon out of all the places my favourite was Melbourne, I really loved it. So now that I’m home its all go, I have to move to Belfast, and also move to Co. Down, I had my exhibition at the weekend as part of Fuel (for a fuel report see Ally’s Post), that kept me busy for a few days. Oh and of course the wedding plans are starting… busy times…

One thing I have to mention about the trip is… for any of you who read this blog, who are into photography, if you ever find yourself in NYC, you MUST go to B & H Photo… it is the biggest, most amazing, and incredibly efficient Camera (and sound and vision) store… so good…

Anyway, here are some of my ‘arty’ type photo’s from my trip… there are 57 of them so I’m only putting a few here, they are all on my flickr… go see… hope you like…

From Queensland to Victoria…

Tomorrow (Tuesday) morning we are leaving Cairns, QLD, and flying down to Melbourne, VIC, where we plan to go to ramsey st and other such things… bu before we head off there I though I should give a wee update, with photos, on the past few days. We have been in Cairns for 4 or 5 days, and there is loads to do around here, if you have lots of money, which we didn’t, but we still had a great time. We filled our time with seeing a lot of the local area, we have been staying in Atherton, its a small village almost on the edge of the Outback, and about 90 minutes outside of Cairns. On friday we headed out to the Great Barrier Reef, and did some Scuba Diving and Snorkling. Scuba Diving was pretty strange, especially at first, when I went under the water my brain realised I was underwater but couldn’t quite grasp that I was still breathing, we Dove to about 6 metres, saw some Nemo’s (clownfish), giant clams, reef sharks and lots of coral, the dive only lasted about 25 mins, but we snorkled for a couple of hours… here are some photos from the snorkling…

Anyway, the other BIG thing we… well I.. did in Cairns was this morning, I did my first bungy jump. I’m not going to lie, I was terrified, ask me to show you the dvd when I get home. So I was petrified once i got to the top of the 50m/164ft tower, but i did the jump, and it was amazing, its such an adreneline rush and I would reccomend it to anyone… here are some snaps from the Bungy, and just from the past few days in and around Cairns.. next post from Melbourne…

It’s been a week…

and i haven’t posted anything here, its mainly due to the difficulties of actually getting access to the internet… also because of the lack of availibilty of computers It means I have no photos or videos to display at the moment.

Anyway, what has the past week held, wuite a bit…

We have been to Byron Bay, and the most easterly point of mainland Australia, William and I learned to surf in Surfers Paradise (yes that is the name of a town), we have been to Warner Bro’s Movieworld Theme Park, we have been to Brisbane, saw The Dark Knight last Wednesday night, it was Jason’s 22nd birthday on thursday, and it was my 22nd on Friday, we spent those in Noosa Heads, where Jason and Alan learned to surf and William and I just hired boards and practiced, then on friday we were in Hervey Bay, we had planned to go out on to Fraser Island the next day, but unfortuntely things didn’t work out and we headed on, we have been travelling for a couple of days and have now reached Airlie Beach, and the Whitsunday Islands, hopefully we will be heading out onto some of the islands in a couple of days, really looking forward to that, after that it will be on to Cairns. Today was Lorraine’s last day in Aus… she is probably currently boarding her flight from Sydney to London, I haven’t seen her in 2 and a half weeks, but i will see her in 3 and half… anyway I will try to post some photos when I get to Cairns, and I will try to post again in a few days…

Some Photos…

It really is proving difficult to upload photos, here are a few from Adelaide and i think only one from Sydney… the dark one of Lori and I (with a pier kinda in the background) is about 5 minutes after I proposed…

Some Photos…

We are currently in Singapore Airport, in the terminal there is a place called the Rainforest Lounge, which we are in, it costs $25 (singapore dollars) and we have had a shower, and unlimited food and drink, mainly snack foods, and there is free internet and big comfy seats. much better than your average airport, I was going to upload some photos for you to look at, but the internet is pretty slow, it was uploading for about 25 mins then the page didnt respond and it hadn’t uploaded them, so I will get them up when I get to Australia…

Us at the Grand Palace, Bangkok

Exhibition…

I’m super busy with photography at the moment, between editing photos, and doing shoots, and all in the next 2 weeks before I jet off to Thailand, In the middle of august I will be having an exhibition of sorts as part of an event in Ballymena. I am going to display 10 photographs at it, i don’t really have time to sort out anymore because this has to be sorted before I go away as well. I would really love your input into this… so what I would like you to do is to go to my Flickr and pick out some photos that you thing would look good framed in an exhibition, and either comment on the photo on Flickr or comment on this post on my blog, or drop me an email to let men know. I’m gonna leave this open for a week, because I will have to order the prints next weekend in order to have them framed in time…

just some clarification… on a couple of points

  • I have no ‘theme’ in mind
  • The photos I choose in the end wont have any portraits, band shots or live music in them, i want to display the abstract/lansdcape/travel stuff…
  • I would love to display some film, but unfortunately time doesn’t really allow…

3…2…1…. go….
